Actually I am in Olympos down in the south of Turkey beside the shimmering Mediterranean. We are all here, little Eva too. It is very hot and unbelievably humid but as a result everything is green and lush. The gardens of this place are artfully overgrown, the beach is just beyond.

To date my most popular post ever has been The Great Turkish Breakfast. Let me tell you about this morning’s and you will see why breakfast is by far and away my favourite meal in this country.
the sight that greets us when we go for breakfast |
A wide selection of shiny black olives, various jams, yogurts, fruits, and cheeses are all displayed with flair. To protect them from dust and insects, everything is meticulously covered with cling film. On one side there are the breads and freshly baked poğaça and kurabiye. The smell alone is so tempting that you can’t help taking one.
the poğaça – savoury pastries with cheese inside |
warm and fragrant kurabiye fresh from the oven – they melt in your mouth! |
the pale green one is acur, a kind of cucumber that you don’t find in the big city |
I love the presentation |

Claudia, you are in heaven – definitely! Enjoy!
:)))
I second that, you are in heaven. The photos are lovely and I love that everything is covered not something I have saw very often in hotels in Turkey. I never knew that tomatoes actually had a taste until I had them in Turkey, the fruit and veg in the UK has no flavour. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Interesting what you say about the food being covered – or not. It does of course detract from the aesthetic effect but at the end of the day, it is the way to go. And yes, I do agree with you re the taste of UK veg – zero! esp cucumbers. I refuse to buy them when I am there.
If I write a report for Trip Advisor I always say it would be lovely if they covered the food but have returned to same hotels and they never do. Even the see through net covers would be good.
i want to visit heaven…i mean turkey, just to eat breakfast. have fun there!
I wish you would!!
It really does look like something out of a fairy tale. Turkey is beautiful … I want to be at your breakfast table too!
I promise you you would love it :)!
Are you going to let us into your secret? What are the rooms like?
They are fab: all decorated in a modern minimal way, shades of white and vanilla. amazing bathrooms with v original showers done in pebbles and shells. I can email you the details if you like!!
What a wonderful place, view, weather and the food looks exquisite as well, truly heavenly. If we hadn't finally seen some sunshine today I would have been too jealous for my own good!
I'm glad I'm here too! Thanks for commenting – hope all is well with you?
What a gorgeous post! I agree, looks a little like cennet to me…
Well it certainly sounds like my idea of Heaven! How incredibly beautiful – and all that wonderful wholesome food as well. I don't think I would ever leave!

….this is such a nice post and beautiful place where you were, those gardens look so beautifully lush and serene….I love the Turkish breakfast…….we try and have it on the weekends. When I first got married and went to Turkey for a visit, all these people were inviting us for breakfast with this feast of a 'sofra' and I thought I was special…well later on I caught on that that was how they ate every morning. Not like the Coffee and muffin here in North America for breakfast.
They make their dishes look like a work of art…..the food is so flavourful and tasty and fresh, 🙂 Better not let my husband see this post or he'll have me whipping up those 'pogaca's' and I have no time this week for them.
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous pics and I love your stories in your Blog. Take care… 🙂
Oh Erica! Lovely long comment from you – I love your comments! Thanks! There is nothing like Turkish breakfast!
I'm not surprised you're in heaven. Turkish breakfast is the best meal of the day for us. You've got the perfect breakfast AND you're in a perfect setting. Enjoy the south of Turkey. 🙂
Hi Julia! You've been in my thoughts actually! I actually asked TT how far Fethiye is from here and it is far. It is soooo hot though – how do you cope? You know, I had forgotten how beautiful this part of Turkey is. It's stunning. Back to reality this w/e though!
Merhaba Claudia,
