I love these Turkish markets! Skim down to my links to read all about them, what to look out for each month, and then further down, to some wonderful markets that I have visited abroad!
The markets here are the reason I am a Seasonal Cook, after all! The produce is marvellous – I don’t know if they use too many ‘hormones’ or not, but the general effect is very enticing. Even the simplest dish will taste great because the fruit and veg is so fresh. When I first came here thirty years or so ago, everything was organic by default: now they have started tinkering with the whys and wherefors of how stuff grows and I am not sure this is a good thing but it still looks and tastes great.
