Kefir Nog

This recipe is totally pliable. You can replace the fruit with any combo you like. We will be trying banana soon but so far apple and pear are our favourites.
Ingredients
  • 500 ml to 1 litre of kefir
  • 1 apple cored and sliced into 8 pieces
  • 1 heaped tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 rounded tsp sugar
  • 4 slices lemon rind using peeler, no pith
Instructions
  1. Place the sliced fruit, rind, sugar and spice into a large jar or lidded jug
  2. Pour on kefir
  3. Place lid on but do not tighten
  4. Leave to sit for 24 hours in cool area
  5. In Summer place it in the fridge
  6. The next day remove lid and strain
  7. The fruit can be used for another batch of kefir or otherwise eaten or placed in a pastry to make a pie
