lemon coconut biscuits, cherry choc muffins, zesty carrot&ginger cake |
So last week it was at my place. I was pleased as I hadn’t seen everyone since Australia but also because I had this recipe up my sleeve just waiting to be tried out. We serve tea and coffee and a few bits and pieces to eat, you see. I thought cherry choc would be just the thing for a grey winter’s day outside and a warm cheery gathering inside.
the silky batter |
· Heat oven to 200°C/350°F/gas 6. Cut 16 squares of baking parchment big enough to act as cases for the holes of your muffin tins. Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill the muffin cases with the mixture.

baked cherry choc muffins |
But there they were, on the supermarket shelf in Dungog, a charming little place of 2000 inhabitants about 1 ½ hours away from Sydney where I was visiting friends from Istanbul. I was amazed and bought them without more ado!
Chocolate and cherries is one of my all time favorite combos—I love the idea of these muffins, special papers and all! I can't wait to try these.
the cherries and choc do seem to go together sublimely well: moist and moreish! Thanks for yr comment!
these look amazing, really good.I think the parchment cup liners are so neat, I see this done a lot, much better than preformed ones.
Yes, I liked them too – more modern or something!!
Claudia — what a great blog. Thanks for a wonderful recipe.
Wondering if you could tell me where you're finding chocolate chips — and what books your club has enjoyed recently!

I love chocolate and cherry together and I am sure these muffins would be delicious. Actually I have never seen these parchment cup liners as it seems more and more they are being baked without liners at all.
Hi Michel! How are you doing? Are you in Sablet or in the States? Interesting that you haven't seen these paper cases … do you like the look? I think I would go with some sort of liner rather than none!
How nice to hear from you!
We are in the States but will be headed to Sablet in a few weeks; can't wait! I like the look!
This looks delicious! I am going to try this one out in Duzce!
Let me know what your crowd in Duzce thinks of them!!!
Looks lovely as always! I've even used the frozen visne when baking muffins and loaf breads with great success.
As far as mini chocolate chips, I've found several vendors outside of the Misir Carsisi that sell them by bulk in open bins or by 1 kilo packets. Kahve Dunyasi also generally has them.
I didn't know that Kahve Dunyasi had them – I am sure they are great. Thanks for that tip.
I also use the frozen vişne when I make my Betty Crocker cheesecake!!!
Faboulous combo!!!!
I really like them 😀
